How to make Vietnamese spring rolls


Spring roll is regarded as one of Hanoi specialties which an unforgettable Vietnamese taste. It is indispensable in every menu specialized in Vietnamese cuisine in the world. However, if you want to make your own homemade version of this Vietnamese trademark food, this recipe may help you.


- Rice pancakes (rice wrappers)

- Shrimp: clean, steamed with salt then cooled down, peeled and cut into halves

- Meat: clean and boiled

- Rice vermicelli: boiled until al dente and drain

- Greens (lettuce, beansprouts, dill): clean and placed separately

- Cucumber: clean, 2-top resin removed, cut into halves

- Carrots: clean, peeled, sliced and mixed with a little sugar

- Dipping sauce: pineapple, garlic, chilli, fish sauce, sugar

- Fresh lime juice

- Spice: sugar, sauce, chilli pepper, salad oil

  1. Dip rice pancakes one by one into a bowl of warm water for 1-2 minutes to soften the pancakes. Lay each one flat on a clean plate.
  2. Place the lettuce, greens, vermicelli, cucumber and carrot slices, shrimp and meat across the center of the flat pancake in order, leaving about 2 inches uncovered on each side.

  3. Fold uncovered sides inward, then roll the pancake and wrap it tight.

  4. Dipping sauce: Make a mixture with a ratio of 1 sugar + ½ vinegar + ½ lemon juice + 1 fish sauce + 3-4 water. Add minced chilli and ground garlic into the mixture.
  5. Serve your spring rolls with the dipping sauce and enjoy!
